Main Potential University Lecturer Gives Counseling in Tembung Village: Secure Data, Be Smart in Facing Hoaxes

Tembung, 18 December 2024 – Main Potential University once again showed its contribution to the community by holding outreach in Tembung Village, Percut Sei Tuan District. This activity was initiated by the Digital Village Community Space (RKDD) of Tembung Village and took place from 14.00 to 16.00 WIB.
Carrying a theme"Secure Data, Be Smart in Facing Hoaxes", this activity presented two main speakers, namely Soeheri, M.Kom and Adil Setiawan, M.Kom. These two lecturers provide material that is relevant to society's needs in facing the challenges of the digital era.
Soeheri, M.Kom, who is also a lecturer at Potential Main University, presented material regardingCyber Security. In his presentation, he explained the importance of maintaining the confidentiality of personal data as well as preventive steps to protect data from hacking threats. "In this digital era, protecting personal data is a top priority. People need to be alert to phishing attempts, malware and other cyber security threats," explained Soeheri to the participants.
On the other hand, Adil Setiawan, M.Kom, provided education to the public regardingHoax. He explained how hoaxes can spread quickly on social media as well as effective ways to identify and counter fake news. "The public needs to be more critical in receiving information. One simple way is to check the news source before sharing it," said Adil Setiawan in the session.
This counseling was welcomed enthusiastically by the people of Tembung Village. The participants not only gain theoretical understanding, but are also provided with practical tips that can be applied in everyday life. One of the participants said, "The material is very useful, especially regarding data security on cellphones and how to recognize hoax news. We hope that activities like this can continue to be held."
Through this activity, Potential Main University continues to be committed to building digital literacy in society, especially in the aspects of data security and information filtering. It is hoped that this step can increase people's digital awareness and intelligence in an era that is increasingly digitally connected.
